The National Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy Council Office (NXPO) participated in the 11th Annual Meeting of the Government Foresight Community (GFC), organized by the OECD in Paris. The meeting aimed to exchange knowledge on foresight with experts from around the world.
The meeting emphasized strengthening foresight capabilities to tackle future challenges such as technology, climate, and social change. Dr. Surachai Satitkunarat, Senior Strategist of NXPO, was invited as the keynote speaker on the topic "Overcoming Barriers : Integrating Foresight into Long-Term Strategy." He presented Thailand's practices in using foresight tools such as Causal Layered Analysis (CLA) and Scenario Planning (Mont Fleur), which have been applied in the 10-year strategic plan of Kasetsart University's Faculty of Engineering, as well as the Delphi method in the APEC STI Strategic Foresight project and STEEP trend analysis in the APEC Energy Transition project.
This meeting served as a crucial platform for exchanging knowledge and best practices on foresight among countries. Thailand highlighted its significant role in developing foresight capabilities and stressed the importance of collaboration to design policies suited to both national and regional APEC contexts.
