Nakhon Sawan's pandan-scented rice, a new player in Thailand’s rice industry, has been officially registered as a Geographical Indication (GI) product. This local rice variety is distinctively known for its pandan-like aroma. Grown in Nakhon Sawan, a region recognized for its high-quality production, the rice emits a fragrance when cooked, making it popular with both domestic and international consumers.

Nakhon Sawan’s pandan-scented rice was registered as a GI product on January 22, 2024, becoming Thailand’s 198th GI rice. This registration has helped to enhance its market value to over 7,500,000 baht and improve the competitiveness of local farmers.
