Nan Moves Into Recovery as Floodwaters Gradually Recede

Nan Governor Chainarong Wongyai has reported that floodwaters across the province are gradually receding, although authorities remain on alert with rain forecast across 70% of the area. Southern districts, including Wiang Sa, Na Noi, and Na Muen, are being closely monitored.

Water levels in Wiang Sa are expected to fall steadily from around 2 p.m. (Aug 21) as runoff moves toward Sirikit Dam. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Yodchanan Wongsawat is also visiting Pua district to inspect recovery work, with further restoration planned for Mueang Nan and Wiang Sa.

Electricity has been restored across most of Nan, except in Phu Kha subdistrict of Pua, where damaged roads have limited access. Highway District 2 is working to reconnect affected routes, while utility services and water supplies are being restored to isolated communities.

Local authorities and provincial central kitchens continue to provide free meals three times a day to affected residents. Those needing emergency food, drinking water, or other immediate assistance can contact the Joint Information Center hotline at 054-716174, available 24 hours a day.
