Ministry of Commerce Announces Strategic Vision and Global Trade Roadmap

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun, accompanied by advisors Weerasak Kowsurat and Kobsak Pootrakool, announced a comprehensive strategic plan to boost the national economy, tourism, and local businesses.

The policy frameworks respond directly to five global trade shifts: Decoupling, Diversification, Digital & AI, Decarbonization, and Demographic changes.

To overcome bureaucratic silos and deliver measurable short- and long-term results, the Ministry established four working groups uniting the public and private sectors to focus on 4 pillars: Agricultural Products and Food Security, Community Economy and SMEs, Creative Economy and Visitor Economy, and International Trade.

These four working groups will drive targeted operations across key strategic areas. The agricultural and food security sector will adopt a demand-driven approach to optimize the entire supply chain, raise production standards, and expand into new markets. For community economies and SMEs, the strategy supports business growth, from local scaling to regional leadership, by increasing access to capital, resolving operational hurdles, and preventing illegal nominee practices.

The plan also integrates the creative and visitor economies into a data-driven experience economy, aiming to convert visitor traffic into higher commercial spending and eventual long-term investment.

Finally, international trade efforts will emphasize resilience and balance by diversifying export markets, accelerating Free Trade Agreement negotiations, and enhancing local content, enabling domestic SMEs to seamlessly integrate into global value chains.
