Government Deploys Teams to Help Flood Victims in Rom Klao-Lat Krabang

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has directed Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin and Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi to jointly assist residents affected by flooding in Bangkok’s Rom Klao–Lat Krabang area.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is deploying more than 30 personnel, two mobile kitchens, a flat-bottomed boat and 6,000 bottles of drinking water to support transport, evacuations and relief distribution.

Minister Supamas is coordinating information on the flood situation and residents’ needs with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and other relevant agencies. She stated that the response will prioritize older people, bedridden patients, children, and other vulnerable residents. She is also preparing to visit Samut Prakan Province to inspect the situation and assess water drainage, while following up on assistance to ensure smooth access to affected communities and a sufficient supply of food, drinking water, and other essentials for residents

Previously, Ms. Supamas visited Nonthaburi Province and observed the operation of water pumps and the drainage system near the water supply canal. She also met residents affected by flooding in Pak Kret, distributed relief supplies, and offered encouragement, while listening to their concerns in order to coordinate with relevant agencies for appropriate assistance.

Over 91 communities in Mueang Nonthaburi and Pak Kret districts have been affected. High tides and accumulated rainfall have slowed drainage into the Chao Phraya River. Provincial authorities are operating pumps around the clock and mobilizing personnel to assist residents, particularly vulnerable groups.

The BMA coordination center for Lat Krabang is located at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL).

Residents needing help can call the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation’s 24-hour hotline at 1784 and are advised to follow official warnings.
