Chula and TCMA Join Forces with Thai–Canadian Partners to Advance Carbon Capture Innovation Toward Net Zero

Chulalongkorn University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Thailand Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) to promote pilot-scale carbon capture innovation and accelerate Thailand’s transition toward a low-carbon economy and Net Zero emissions. The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration among academia, industry, government agencies, and international partners to develop practical solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the cement sector, one of the country’s major carbon-emitting industries.

The collaboration focuses on developing a prototype “Mobile Carbon Capture Unit,” an innovative system designed to capture carbon dioxide emissions for future industrial applications. The initiative also emphasizes building knowledge, supporting research and technology development, and cultivating “Green Talent” to prepare the workforce for industrial transformation. Canadian experts and international organizations are expected to contribute technological expertise and knowledge exchange to strengthen Thailand’s climate action efforts.

Leaders from government agencies, academia, and international organizations highlighted that this partnership represents a major step toward building a sustainable low-carbon industrial ecosystem. The project is expected to enhance Thailand’s competitiveness in the global green economy while supporting national climate goals and long-term environmental sustainability.
