AOT Signs Contract for New Airports “Andaman-Lanna,” Set for 2027 Launch

Airports of Thailand Public Co., Ltd. (AOT) has announced the launch of the “Andaman-Lanna” regional airport development project to enhance air travel capacity and boost local economies. AOT has signed an initial contract to commission a consultant to study the feasibility of the project, expected to take approximately six months before moving on to the design and environmental impact assessment stages. The bidding process is set for 2027, with construction anticipated to begin in 2028.

The Andaman Airport will be located in Phang Nga Province on an area spanning over 7,300 rai (2,900 acres), while the Lanna Airport is planned to be constructed in Lamphun Province.The total construction budget is estimated at over 150 billion baht, with the airports expected to handle more than 20 million passengers per year and accommodate up to 43 flights per hour.

This project marks a significant step for AOT in enhancing aviation capacity to meet the growth of tourism and travel across Thailand. Once operational, these airports are expected to become vital drivers for economic development in both regions.
