In the Cabinet meeting on October 8, 2024, the principles of a ministerial regulation were approved, allowing the production, import, export, sale, and possession of cannabis and hemp extracts in 4 cases:
Extracts containing more than 0.2% THC remain classified as narcotics and are strictly controlled. However, extracts with THC not exceeding 0.2% are permitted and encouraged for use in industries such as cosmetics, food, and herbal products. Over 2,906 items have already applied for permits.
This ministerial regulation opens new business opportunities for entrepreneurs to develop cannabis and hemp products in the medical, industrial, and research sectors, enhancing Thailand’s economic potential in the future.
