In Thailand, although Buddhism is the state religion, but the people have freedom of religion, such as in the southern border provinces where most people are Muslims, thus creating a unique culture, which includes many traditional festivals such as the Central Yala Mawlid Fair 1444 A.H., the test of Qari in 14 southern provinces, and the ASEAN-level Qur'an memorization. They will be held on 1-8 March 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to midnight at the office of the Islamic Committee of Tha Subdistrict, Sap, Yala Province.
The Central Yala Mawlid fair is considered an important tradition in Islamic religion; within the event there are other interesting activities, with the main activity being a reading test of the Qur’an in 14 southern provinces, including religious lectures, “Barzanji Melayu” reading, and a reading competition of the “Qasidah Burdah” poem with representatives from each district. There will also be stores to sell products, both OTOP products and local products, as well as local food to stimulate the local economy.
