To becoming Thailand Medical Hub, a regional medical hub, it is necessary to have foreign physicians working in Thailand. This is in order to develop and improve knowledge potential of Thai medical personnel. Therefore, approaches have been sought to reduce the conditions hindering the immigration of foreign physician such as applying for a work permit, obtaining a medical license and establishing a medical facility.
With the aforementioned problems, a temporary license has been considered for foreign medical personnel to be used in providing services in private medical facility for patients or teaching at the post-graduate level. This will lead to the elevation of Thai medical standards. The details of the following possibilities are considered.
Establishing guidelines/regulations allowing foreign physician invited by the public sector to teach in public educational institutions/hospitals and allocate their time for teaching or practicing in the private sector;
Applying for a temporary license for foreign physicians and providing opportunities to practice in Thailand for not more than 1 year. However, such operations may be subject to regulatory restrictions requiring a license registration as a special case.
