The Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) developed the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (T-VER) to encourage all sectors in the country to participate in voluntary greenhouse gas reductions, particularly those that produce and use renewable energy. Transportation sector management, including tree planting and reforestation conservation, which are activities that will help greenhouse gas storage, can also maintain and balance biodiversity.
TGO is in charge of registering the T-VER projects and certifying the amount of greenhouse gases that each T-VER project can reduce or store. Carbon credit is the amount of greenhouse gases that can be reduced or stored and used to offset greenhouse gas emissions from organizations, individuals, events, and product production; the amount of greenhouse gas emission reduction under the T-VER project can be turned into carbon credits known as “TVER,” which can be sold in the domestic voluntary carbon market.
TGO has established criteria and procedures for developing projects, methods, and methods for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (Methodology). Registration and certification of greenhouse gas emissions must be projects that reduce greenhouse gas absorption occurring in Thailand.
Thailand currently has a greenhouse gas reduction project in place, with carbon credit sold in the carbon market since fiscal year 2014 in the form of a Voluntary Carbon Market under the TGO.
