The renowned food website, “Tasteatlas”, has ranked the top 100 best chicken dishes in the world and found that two Thai chicken dishes have made the list. Khao Mok Gai (Thai Biryani) is ranked at 38th with a score of 4.3.
Khao Mok Gai, often consumed among Thai Muslims, is a Halal dish. Even though its origins can be traced back to Persian traders who introduced it to Thailand centuries ago, “Tasteatlas” indicates that this is a Thai version of Biryani, first mentioned in Thai literature as far back as the 18th century.
Another dish that made the list is Thai Grilled Chicken, ranked 46th with a score of 4.2.
Even though Grilled Chicken originated from the Laotians in Northeastern Thailand, Tasteatlas states that it is now popularly consumed throughout the country. It is typically served with sticky rice and dipping sauce, as well as a salad called Som Tum. This dish is easily found at various street food vendors across Thailand. The Grilled Chicken is distinguished from other chicken dishes by its marinade.
The world's top-ranked chicken dish is Jujeh Kabab, a Persian-style chicken dish from Iran, scoring 4.8. It is a simple dish, with two popular variations: one with boneless chicken and the other with only the bones. The chicken is usually cut into large pieces, marinated in various sauces and herbs, skewered, and grilled. It is typically served with grilled tomatoes, onions, Lavash bread, or rice with herbs.
