Normally, the area around Samaesan Bay in Sattahip District of Chonburi Province, is a hotspot for divers, both Thai and foreign, due to its proximity to Bangkok and the abundance of natural richness. However, not long ago, a "fishing boat graveyard" was discovered in the Samaesan Bay area.
The "fishing boat graveyard" is submerged under the sea, approximately 300 meters off the coast. When the sea level drops, the stunning view that emerges from the seabed becomes clearly visible, especially from the viewpoint on the golden beachfront. It features a flourishing artificial coral reef inhabited by a multitude of marine creatures.
This fishing boat graveyard was initially visible only by boat stakes protruding above the water. Locals, unaware of its origins, thought it was a pile of discarded boat wreckage. But in fact, the area is under the supervision of the Royal Thai Navy, flourishing with seagrass and rocks, providing a habitat for a multitude of marine creatures, especially dolphins, seals, and various species.
The Royal Thai Navy has dumped the sunken and unusable fishing boats into the sea, creating artificial coral reefs and providing habitats for undersea creatures.
Thus, this fishing boat graveyard has become a new landmark attracting tourists interested in visiting, diving, and taking check-in photos at this location.
