Lifestyle Tourism: Local Chef at Ban Bo Suak in Nan Province

Nan is another province in the northern region where there are many beautiful tourist attractions, such as temples, culture, art, the simple lifestyle of the people, and beautiful nature. It’s not only these attractions that are visited by tourists from all over the world, but also the communities that are also interesting and charming.

For example, Bo Suak Community, in Bo Suak Subdistrict, Mueang District in Nan, is presented as a model of a cultural tourist attraction; people have a simple way of life surrounded by beautiful nature. There is also an ancient kiln. The local wisdom and local lifestyle of the community were the reasons it received an award for World Tourism Village of the Year in 2021 (B.E. 2564) from the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations (UNWTO).

One activity that is unique and receiving a lot of attention from tourists is “Local Chef at Ban Bo Suak.” It provides an opportunity for tourists who wish to learn the traditional way to make herbal northern Thai sausages; it starts with the local chefs mixing pork and herbs together before stuffing it in the casing, then baking it until it smells delicious, according to Kampuan Munchan's recipe.

Moreover, there are other kinds of local food for you to try, such as fried chicken with Makhwaen, Sesbania Grandiflora Soup with domestic fowl, Nam Prik Num Ban Na (Northern Thai Green Chilli Dip), and Mueang vermicelli spicy salad. The cost for these activities is not expensive at all – only 150 baht each.

If you are interested in learning how to make northern Thai sausages and experience the natural surroundings at Ban Bo Suak, then you can visit all year round.
