Safety measures are critical for global tourism, especially in the age of digital disruption, where danger can take many forms. One of the factors travelers must consider before traveling is self-defense and the destination country’s safety measures. According to statistics, the number of foreign tourists in Thailand continues to rise following the relaxation of public health measures and the country’s opening to many countries around the world, but one factor threatening tourism at the moment is tourist insecurity. For this reason, the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (Social and Economic Sustainability) place an emphasis on safety and well-being by requiring tourist attractions to have a system in place to monitor, prevent, and respond to crime, safety, and health hazards. It must be managed and reported to the public in order to meet the needs of both tourists and locals.
