Instructions for unaccompanied child passengers traveling through the airport

Child passengers on any airline without parents accompanying them are allowed to enter or leave the country and change flights in Thailand and travel with the airline alone, and they are subject to the following rules:

 1. Parents are required to inform the airline at least 24 hours before departure, as airlines limit the number of children to be accepted. On Thai Airways, Royal First Class/ Royal Silk Class is available only for children aged between 8 and 11 years old and only 1 child. Economy Class is available for up to six children aged between 5 and 7 years old, and up to 30 children aged between 8 and 11 years old per flight.

 2. Inform the airline (or departure station) of the child’s information, including their name - surname, age, gender, date, flight number, departure and destination airports, as well as the name, address, and telephone number of the parents who are sending off the child or Unaccompanied Minor (UM). The parent must also give the name and the phone number of the parent who will pick up the child at the destination airport, and fill in all the information in the "Handling Advice for Unaccompanied Minor" form (Form THAI 1122) as evidence.

 3. The person who picks up the child at the destination airport must be the same person as the name listed at the Selling Office.

 4. The ticket must be of a Confirm type and not an ID ticket or an award ticket given by ROP (Royal Orchid Plus).
 5. Parents or guardians who come to send the child off must not return home immediately and must wait until the plane in which the child is traveling has taken off.

 6. Infants and children under 5 years of age are not eligible for UM, unless accompanied by a person aged 12 or over.

Children's travel is subject to a handling fee of 30 USD, or equal to 1,350 baht, for each international flight, and if they are siblings of the same surname traveling together, only one handling fee will be charged. There is no handling fee on domestic flights. The fare for UM on international flights is at applicable adult fare rates according to the age of the child/ UM, while on domestic flights, the fare is charged at 50% of adult normal full fare.

In the case of a child passenger between 12 and 16 years old traveling alone, if a parent or guardian wishes to ask for special care like UMs, they may follow the same procedures.
