Application to stay in Thailand for tourism purposes

          Thailand is the main destination in Southeast Asia for foreign tourists. If you are a foreigner wishing to extend your stay in Thailand, you must have a tourist visa and must not be a person of the nationality or category specified by the Immigration Office's monitoring committee. (Sri Lankan, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Iranian, Nepalese, Togolese, Nigerian, and Ugandan nationals are permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a maximum of 7 days.)

Required documents

1. TM.7 form (foreigners must submit the application in person);
2. Copy of passport, visa, latest permit stamp;
3. Photo size 4x6 cm (taken within 6 months);
4. 1,900 baht fee.

To extend a tourist visa  in case of illness, additional documents are required: 
1. TM.7 form (foreigner must submit the application in person); 
2. Copy of passport, visa, latest permit stamp;
3. Certificate from the hospital specifying the physician's diagnosis as follows:

  • Disease;
  • Obstacles to long-distance travel; 
  • How long to recover, or not be able to travel.

In the case of patient care, additional documents are available, as follows:

1. TM.7 form (foreigner must submit the application in person); 
2. Copy of passport, visa, latest permit stamp;
3. Certificate from the hospital where the patient was treated, stating the relationship with the patient, or a certificate of relationship with the patient from the embassy or consulate.

In the case of visiting relatives or returning to the former domicile of a person who held Thai nationality, or a person whose father or mother is a Thai national or held Thai nationality:

1. TM.7 form (applicant must submit the application in person); 
2. Copy of passport, visa, latest permit stamp;
3. Documents showing that the foreigner held Thai nationality or that the father or mother is a Thai national or held Thai nationality.

In the case of visiting a spouse or child who is a holder of Thai nationality:

1. TM.7 form (foreigner must submit the application in person); 
2. Copy of passport, visa, latest permit stamp;
3. Proof of relationship (in the case of spouses having a legal and de facto relationship):
3.1 Copy of house registration of spouse or child;
3.2 Copy of the national ID card of a Thai national;
3.3 Copy of marriage certificate or copy of child's birth certificate.

In the case of litigation or proceedings related to a legal case, the following documents are required: 

1. TM.7 form (foreigner must submit the application in person); 
2. Copy of passport, visa, latest permit stamp; 
3. Evidence confirming that the person is involved in the proceedings as an accuser, victim, accused, plaintiff, defendant, or witness.

In the case of performing duties or missions for public agencies or state enterprises or other public agencies, embassies, consulates, or international organizations,  the following documents are required: 

1. TM.7 form (foreigner must submit the application in person); 
2. Copy of passport, visa, latest permit stamp;
3. Certificate or request from public agency at the department level or equivalent or head; 
4. State enterprises or heads of other public agencies, or from a police agency at the commander-level or equivalent and above, or from the commander-level of military service under the Ministry of Defense, Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, Royal Thai Army.
