Minister of Foreign Affairs Unveils 5 Key Foreign Policy Initiatives

Mr. Maris Sangiamphong, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented the important foreign policy vision and policies of the current government during a meeting with both Thai and international media at the “Meet the Press #2” event at the Bua Kaew Room, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The details are as follows:

  1. Cross-Border Problem Solving: Collaborating with neighboring countries to address issues such as drug trafficking, water management, PM2.5 pollution, and transnational crime, which affect the quality of life of citizens. Meetings with China and countries in the Mekong River basin demonstrate strong cooperation.

  2. New Visa Issuance (Destination Thailand Visa - DTV): Issuing long-term visas to attract foreigners who wish to work or travel in Thailand for an extended period, which will help promote tourism and local economies.

  3. Promotion of Soft Power: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs collaborates with other agencies, such as the Ministry of Commerce, to promote One Tambon One Product (OTOP) and Thai cultural products to international markets through Thai festivals worldwide.

  4. Care for Thais Abroad: The Ministry plays a crucial role in assisting Thai citizens facing difficulties due to unrest abroad, including bringing back Thai hostages from situations in Israel and supporting Thai workers overseas.

  5. Security Accompanied by Prosperity: The Ministry aims to promote peace in the region and develop the Thai-Malaysian border area to create peace and economic opportunities for both sides.


These five important foreign policy areas focus on building strong international relationships, promoting creative economies, and ensuring the safety and quality of life for citizens both domestically and abroad sustainably.
