Phuket Airport Handles Over 3,225 Flights During Songkran, Reflecting a Strong Tourism Recovery

Phuket hosted a variety of Songkran events, including the No-Alcohol Songkran at Limelight Phuket, the Alive Beach On Cloud Songkran Music Festival at Blue Tree Phuket, the RAWAYANA WATERFES at Mix Mall Rawai Beach, and the BIG ISLAND SPLASH PARTY at Boat Lagoon and Central Phuket. These events attracted large crowds of both Thai and international tourists, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

This year’s Songkran Festival saw a bustling turnout, with a heavy influx of both domestic and international visitors. This surge contributed significantly to the growth of Phuket’s tourism economy. The main tourist groups arriving this year came from Russia, China, India, France, and Kazakhstan, with Chinese tourists notably increasing their spending substantially compared to previous years.

Between April 12–16, 2025, Phuket welcomed 523,306 tourists, with a total of 3,225 flights operating. Hotel occupancy averaged 80.90% out of 104,268 available rooms. Tourism revenue reached approximately 8.297 billion baht, divided into 790 million baht from Thai tourists and 7.507 billion baht from international visitors.

Compared to last year, Songkran tourism in Phuket grew significantly, with over 260,000 more visitors and an increase of more than 2 billion baht in tourism revenue. These figures highlight the ongoing rise in Phuket’s popularity as a top travel destination.
