Highlighting 3 Emerging Innovation Trends! Driving Thailand's Economy in 2024

Changes in geopolitics, the environment, society, and politics, particularly the economic situation, require Thailand to adapt rapidly to global trends and elevate its industrial and service systems to connect with the global value chain. Under the concept of Innovation-Led Economic Growth, the National Innovation Agency (NIA), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, has identified three strong innovation trends to drive Thailand's economy in 2024

1. Climate Tech – Technology to Address Climate Change
Climate change is a critical issue that all countries must confront. Thailand aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030, which promotes innovations in clean energy and carbon capture technologies. New technologies such as Smart Grids, energy storage, and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) are key to creating a green economy and minimizing environmental impacts.

2. EV Tech – Technology for the New Era of Automotive
Electric vehicles (EVs) are revolutionizing the global automotive industry. Thailand targets producing 30% of its vehicles as electric by 2030, supported by government initiatives and advancements in battery technology and advanced materials. This industry will enhance the convenience of using electric cars, including the development of charging infrastructure and sharing platforms for easier consumer access.

3. Creative Tech – Technology to Propel Thailand's New Economic Power
Creative technology is transforming the landscape of art, culture, design, and entertainment in Thailand. It caters to modern lifestyles with seamless convenience. Various creative technologies and innovations are currently influencing people's lives, such as Extended Reality (XR), QR code payment systems, online applications and platforms, and integrated artificial intelligence.

These technologies and innovations play a significant role in the creative industry, positively impacting tourism, digital media, film, fashion, gaming, and animation. They also help to elevate the economy and enhance Thailand's bargaining power on the global stage through Soft Power. Thailand aims to promote a creative economy, focusing on five key areas: Food, Film and Video, Thai Fashion Design, Traditional Thai Martial Arts, and Thai Festivals, to connect Thai identity with the global market and increase economic value for the country.
