Nan Province Seeks World Heritage Status Aligned with THAILAND VISION 8 Policy

The Thai government is actively promoting Nan Province as a World Heritage city, in line with its THAILAND VISION 8 policy. This initiative aims to connect Nan with the neighboring World Heritage city of Luang Prabang, Laos, and boost tourism in the region.

The Cabinet has approved two main projects by the Ministry of Culture to drive Nan Province towards becoming a World Heritage city alongside Luang Prabang, Laos. This initiative aims to connect the two cities and promote tourism. The key projects to be implemented in 2024 are as follows:

  1. Project to Raise Awareness and Understanding of Cultural Heritage History in Nan Province for World Heritage Status: This project involves educating government agencies, businesses, communities, and the public about Nan's cultural heritage and the benefits of World Heritage status. Additionally, it involves the creation of knowledge books and online dissemination materials.
  2. Project to Study Cultural Heritage Sites to Propel Nan Province Towards World Heritage Status: This project focuses on assessing the value of Nan's cultural heritage sites and compiling comprehensive documentation to support the province's UNESCO World Heritage bid.

Pushing Nan Province towards becoming a World Heritage city will not only promote cultural tourism but also instill pride among the local people and help preserve cultural heritage for future generations.  Let's support and follow this important initiative closely.
