Green Light to Nominate: "Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, Nakhon Si Thammarat" Set to Become Thailand's Sixth UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Thai Cabinet has approved the nomination of Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan in Nakhon Si Thammarat as Thailand's sixth UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient religious site is significant for its historical, artistic, and cultural importance, deeply connected to Buddhism.

Wat Phra Mahathat is renowned for its distinctive architecture, particularly the Phra Borommathat Chedi, which houses the sacred relics of the Buddha. It reflects the historical prosperity of Nakhon Si Thammarat and serves as a spiritual center, attracting tourists and pilgrims worldwide. 

If granted UNESCO status, this designation will enhance cultural tourism, increase global recognition, and stimulate economic growth by generating income for local communities.
