Announced! New Law Protects Online Shopping with Cash on Delivery

Good news for online shoppers! On July 5th, a new law was announced to protect online shoppers who prefer purchasing through cash on delivery (COD). This law requires delivery service providers that collect payment upon delivery to provide key information such as the name, surname, and phone number of the sender, along with package details and the amount charged. This measure aims enhance safety and transparency for consumers.

The law grants consumers the right to inspect the goods before making a payment. Consumers can open the package and record photos or videos as evidence. If the product does not match the order, the consumer has the right to refuse payment and return the goods immediately. Additionally, the delivery service provider must hold the payment for 5 days before transferring it to the seller, giving consumers sufficient time to check the product and request a refund if necessary.

This law will come into effect on October 3, 2024, allowing both delivery service providers and buyers time to prepare and adjust to the new regulations, ultimately increasing confidence and safety in online shopping.
