Water procession of famous Thai Buddhist monk’s statue

There is an endless variety of fantastic festivals in Thailand. They are celebrated all year round in all parts of Thailand. One of the rarely seen festivals is being held today (16 November 2023) on the Gulf of Thailand in Samut Prakan province. It is the water procession of the statue of Phrakru Pipatnirojkit, or Luang Pho Pan, a famous Buddhist monk who was revered for his expertise in making talismans. The water procession is to celebrate the 113th anniversary of his passing and to provide moral support for sailors.

During his lifetime, Luang Pho Pan was an important person who helped bring about the construction of many roads in Samut Prakan, which connected to waterways, making life easier for many residents. The roads have become the main routes that are still used today.
