Thailand – A Dream Destination for the World, Foreign Tourists Boost Thai Economy by 1.27 Trillion Baht

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has reported the latest tourism situation. From January 1 to October 13, 2024, Thailand has welcomed more than 27 million foreign tourists, generating over 1.27 trillion baht in revenue from their spending.

The top five countries with the highest number of tourists visiting Thailand are as follows:

  1. China: 5,474,502 people
  2. Malaysia: 3,905,682 people
  3. India: 1,606,060 people
  4. South Korea: 1,446,748 people
  5. Russia: 1,205,879 people

Between October 7 and 13, 2024, long-haul markets (flights exceeding 6 hours) saw a recovery, with 166,052 tourists arriving, an increase of 4.92% from the previous week. The main reason is the beginning of the tourism season for European and American tourists. Meanwhile, short-haul markets (flights under 3 hours) saw a decrease of 14.70%.

In the future, the number of foreign tourists is expected to increase due to factors such as the recovery of long-haul travel, the government's Ease of Traveling measures that make traveling more convenient, the exemption of Immigration Card No.6 at land checkpoints, and government-supported incentives for airlines to increase flight numbers. These factors, along with the revival of the tourism market, will bring back vibrancy to Thailand's tourism industry.
