PM Anutin Orders urgent Assistance for Flood-Affected Residents in Nan

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, currently on an official visit to Canberra, Australia, has instructed all government agencies to urgently mobilize aid for flood victims in Nan province.

After a Ministry of Interior briefing on August 19, 2026, the Prime Minister assigned Deputy Prime Ministers to oversee disaster relief in their regions. Deputy Prime Minister Yoschanan Wongsawat is managing the response in northern Thailand and has sent a team to the affected areas. Nan province has been declared a disaster zone, allowing immediate release of emergency funds and resources. Authorities, including military personnel, are assisting residents, especially where roads are inaccessible.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to provide sufficient food, clothing, and medical supplies to those in temporary shelters. For post-flood recovery, he confirmed that financial assistance will be distributed according to official criteria, which state that areas with continuous flooding for three days are eligible for relief. The package includes direct compensation for families and funding to repair damaged homes.
