The government is accelerating the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project, which is expected to be completed and operational by 2029. This project marks a significant step in regional transportation connectivity, enhancing travel convenience between Thailand, China, and Laos, and propelling the region toward greater economic prosperity.
The eagerly anticipated first phase of the China-Thailand high-speed rail project, connecting Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima, is currently under construction and is poised to become operational by 2028. Moreover, the second phase of the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project, from Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai, has been designed and improved and is expected to be operational by 2029.
The high-speed rail project not only facilitates transportation but also opens doors to new tourist destinations in Thailand. The rail route passing through major tourist spots such as Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, and Udon Thani will make it easier and faster for tourists to reach their destinations. It also helps reduce the use of personal vehicles, alleviates road congestion, and decreases pollution from transportation.
The Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project strengthens regional transportation networks, stimulates the economy, and promotes sustainable tourism in Thailand. It serves as a crucial link connecting Thailand's northeastern region with Laos and China.
