Hok Peng Festival to Worship Phra That Chao Phu Phiang Chae Haeng 2023, the year of the Rabbit that is 670 years old, between 28 February to 6 March 2023 in Nan Province.

Hok Peng Festival to Worship Phra That Chao Phu Phiang Chae Haeng is a tradition that has been inherited for a long time by the people of Nan, showing the local culture and traditions representing faith in Buddhism. It also promotes the tourism of Nan Province

Inside Phra That Chae Haeng, built in the Phraya Kran period, the relics of the Lord Buddha’s hair and left hand are enshrined.

Within this event, there are a variety of activities, including promotion of tourist routes, worshiping sacred items, enhancing the prosperity of life, exorcising misfortunes, worshiping candles, long life ceremony (Suepjata), paying homage to monks, and community tourism.

Demonstration activities to pass on the knowledge of Nan local wisdom in this festival include Nan local fabrics, local food, local craftsmen, weaving, Thai boxing art, short film contest “Stories of Wiang Phu Phiang” and interpreters for children and young people.

In addition, there are other activities. For example, Kad Mua Kua Hom activity, walking streets, local product sales, local food, local desserts, souvenirs, cultural performances such as Salo Sopin, Kua Tan Lanna parade in 14 districts, worship drumming contest, Aew drumming contest, Mong Seng drumming contest, and firework contest.

The visitors can hang the lanterns and pay homage to Phra That Chae Haeng. These lanterns are made by the Nan Buddhist Art Learning Center based on the wisdom of people of Nan. In addition, this event also offers more than 100 accommodation business establishments, restaurants, cafes, silverware shops, Nan local cloth shops, and souvenir shops.
