The term “maritime transport operator” means an operator who is engaged in marine transport business based in Thailand and carries on marine transportation, including a branch and agent of an operator engaged in marine transport whose headquarters are located in a foreign country and who carries on marine transport in Thailand, as well as a person acting as a broker who collects goods in Thailand for marine transport. Maritime transport operators are obliged to apply for registration, in accordance with the Ministerial Regulation on Criteria and Procedures for Application and Registration of Maritime Transport Operator or Shipyard Operator, B.E. 2554 (2011), dated 8 June 2011. Those applying to be a maritime transport operator (vessel owner or user) must obtain a maritime transport operator certificate (Form Phor Wor 7) after registration. The supporting documents for registration of maritime transport operator are as follows:
Ordinary person
Non-registered ordinary partnership
Limited partnership or registered ordinary partnership
Limited company or public limited company
In the case of an alien applicant, the applicant must submit documents and evidence showing compliance with the laws governing foreign business operations.
