Cultural tourism – Khemarat Nawaeng Chiad Cultural tourism Community, Ubon Ratchathani Province

Khemarat Nawaeng - Chiad has been a cultural focal point in Ubon Ratchathani Province for over 200 years, long before tourism was imagined. It is a civilization in the Mekong River basin. If you visit this community during Buddhist Lent, you will be amazed by the beautiful Buddhist Lent procession, supported by the villagers' faith, as well as candle casting and hand-carved wood taken to the temple. You can also visit the Wat PhuTham Phra Sila Thong Museum, a community-based archaeological site that showcases historical artifacts excavated in the area, such as large ancient human bone vessels, iron tools, bronze ornaments, and stone and glass jewelry.

For those interested in history, it's a sure thing that they will fall in love with this place. And when you arrive at the Nawaeng - Chiad community, you must not miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture by learning how to weave cloth, do banana leaf carving, make java plum soap, make mulberry green tea leaf, and participate in crafting activities, such as making keychains from fabric scraps. After all that, remember to taste the famous first sun-dried bananas, Nawaeng - Chiad 's specialty – they take eight rounds of drying in the sun to get the delicious fragrant taste that is fascinating to many people.

There is also a walking street here for us to walk along, where we can buy lovely handmade products. The Khemarat Walking Street is held on Wisit Sri Road. On the night of the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, the townspeople bring local products and local food to sell at affordable prices. There are also local performances to watch, as well.
