Travel route for the faithful of two religions: Buddhism and Christianity

Religious tourism is another form of tourism that has gained popularity lately, especially those who would like to earn religious merit or enhance their spiritual side. Nakhon Phanom Province is one of the provinces in the Northeast region that are loved by many tourists who come to make merit and pay homage to Buddha images. Here, a tourism route known as "Faith of Two Religions: Buddhism-Christianity" has been introduced. It connects three provinces, consisting of Sakon Nakhon Province, Nakhon Phanom Province, and Mukdahan Province, known as the S-N-U-K provinces, which comes from the prefix of "S" from Sakon Nakhon, “N” from Nakhon Phanom, and "UK" from Mukdahan. It combines stories about the power of Buddhist faith through temples, pagodas, and relics, which are the unique architecture of the Mekong River Basin, and it also reveals the power of faith in Christianity with Christian churches, monuments, and Thai Christian communities located in many places in these three provinces.

The Buddhist way of life consists of three royal temples in three provinces, namely Wat Phra That Choeng Chum Worawihan in Sakon Nakhon Province, Wat Phra That Phanom Woramahawihan in Nakhon Phanom Province, and Wat Sri Mongkhon Tai in Mukdahan Province.

There is also a route to beautiful temples that should not be missed, namely the route to pay homage to the eight relics of the birthdays in Nakhon Phanom Province and major festivals in the three provinces.

All three provinces have traditions linked to religious beliefs, such as the Lai Fai Festival in Nakhon Phanom Province, the Prasat Phueng Festival in Sakon Nakhon Province, and the Mukdahan Sam Phiphob Festival, and there is an event when people gather to pray in the Middle of the Mekong River, Mukdahan Province. These are unique traditions that clearly reflect the faith and belief in Buddhism.
