Businesses to watch after Thailand’s relaxation of COVID-19-related measures

      After Thailand relaxed its COVID-19-related measures, the government announced a full opening of the country, resulting in new waves of foreign tourists coming to Thailand. The overall economy, especially in the tourism sector, began to recover. The Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, estimates that there are three groups of businesses with interesting trends and opportunities to grow continuously after the COVID-19 era, as follows:

Business groups that correspond to the country’s opening:

  • Accommodation and travel;
  • Restaurants;
  • Pubs, bars, and nightlife;
  • MICE business (tourism businesses involved in organizing meetings, visiting events, trade fairs or incentive travel).

Healthcare business:

  • Retail business of pharmaceutical products;
  • Health and beauty services;
  • Growing business of spices, fragrances, and herbal medicines.

Business groups that support new lifestyle changes:

  • Online trading;
  • Frozen food;
  • Automotive. 

      Figures as of 30 September 2022, show that all 10 outstanding businesses have a total market value of over 2,018,062.10 million baht and have interesting prospects for investment in 2023. However, it is necessary to bear in mind investments are risky and it requires caution and thorough study before making an investment decision.
