One-day trip to Koh Kred: Experience a community’s way of life

Koh Kret, Nonthaburi, another tourist attraction that is not far from Bangkok, is a place where visitors can travel in the morning and evening or have a one-day trip just for shopping, sightseeing, tasting, and chilling.

Koh Kret is an island in the Chao Phraya River that allows boat passengers to view the river scenery from the special vantage point, which is a attraction of the island.

Koh Kret is a model OTOP (One Tambon, One Product) village, a folk wisdom center for pottery handicrafts, which makes up the identity of the Mon people, which is a trade they have practiced for many years. There are small, cute, low-priced pottery shops, a museum of pottery and earthenware in various fields of art, and pottery and ceramic workshops for tourists who are interested in watching how they’re made.

In addition to pottery, there is also tasty food, especially fried flowers, a symbol of Koh Kret, and spicy fish cake with a local vegetable (Thod Man Nor Kala), Khao Chae and Kanom Jin (or Khanom Jeen), which are traditional Mon dishes, as well as Thai desserts like Kalamae. Visitors can end the program with a comfy boat ride to enjoy the scenery around Koh Kret.

Those who visit Koh Kret must not miss Wat Poramai Yikawat to see the beauty of Phra Maha Raman Chedi, which was modeled on Myanmar's Shwedagon Pagoda, and Mutao Pagoda, or Leaning Pagoda, which is a symbol of Koh Kret.
