Application for duty exemption for donated goods imported by government agencies or charitable organizations

      Procedures for duty exemption of goods under Category 11, Part 4 of the Customs Tariff Decree B.E. 2530 have several parts. In one of those cases, a government agency or a charitable organization must submit an application for duty exemption together with the required documents. In the case of importing donated goods, the requirements are as follows: 
- Name of the agency applying for duty exemption; 
- Person or organization who donated or gave the goods; 
- Purpose of using the goods;
- Port or airport used for importing goods; 
- Estimated import date; 
- Name, details, quantity, value, and currency of the goods;
- Signature, name-surname, and position of the signatory as an applicant is required in the duty exemption application to the Customs Department before retrieving the goods from the customs custody. 

Required documents for the duty exemption application are as follows:

- Original written proof of intent to donate, showing that it is a donation or giving without any conditions and obligations, with a translation into Thai;
- Letter of acceptance of donation;
- Documents declaring the value of goods, such as invoice or proforma invoice, etc.;
- Bill of lading or Air Waybill, if available;
- Other documents for the consideration of duty exemption, if available, such as photographs of the goods, unique features of goods, instruments of authorization, etc.;
- Instruments for the establishment of organizations or charitable institutions and modified (only in the case where the applicant is a charitable organization).

      When presenting a copy of a document or evidence, the applicant must sign the copy and provide their name-surname and position to certify the copy.
