Application for change of visa type of foreigners – To give or receive patronage from a person of Thai nationality (Child of Thai nationality) (Code O)

         Foreigners who have to provide[?] or want to be supported by a Thai national or Thai nationality child, type O visa type,[?] can prepare documents and evidence for applying or requesting to change the type of visa as follows:

1. TM.86 only for foreigners who have Tourist Visa or Transit Visa to change the type of visa, or TM.87 form only for foreigners who do not have a visa but are allowed to stay in the Kingdom, and P.30, PP.30 and PP.90 to apply for a visa.     

2. Copy of passport (such as personal information page, entry stamp, residence permit stamp (if any), departure card (TM.6).   

3. 4X6 cm or 2-inch photo.     

4. Fee of 2,000 baht. 

5. Evidence of Thai nationals, the evidence including: copy of ID card, copy of house registration, copy of employee card or a copy of a civil servant card who has been granted naturalization by converting to Thai nationality with evidence of a copy of the document of obtaining citizenship.

6. Evidence of marriage, father, mother, child or birth certificate or certificate from government agency, embassy or consulate showing the status of being part of the household. Letter of recommendation from the Department of Diplomatic Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (must be translated into English  and certified by the embassy of the foreigner in Thailand or abroad) and a letter of recommendation from the Legal Affairs Division, Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. 7. Show evidence of child care (additional).

7.1 In case of children born during marriage, and the parents live together, marriage certificate Khor.Ror.2, Khor.Ror.3 must be presented 

7.2 In the case of parents who are divorced, the divorce certificate must be presented (Khor.Ror.6).     

7.3 In the event that the father is a foreigner and has not registered the marriage with the mother, the child certificate must be presented (KhorRor.11).

8. Show proof of income, as follows:

8.1. Show monthly income of not less than 40,000 baht, certified by the embassy or consulate of the applicant in Thailand or abroad, together with evidence referring to the source of income, or,

8.2. Present a certificate of deposit balance from a bank in Thailand in Thai (to Immigration Office Commander) and a copy of a savings or fixed account of at least 400,000 baht.

** (Both 8.1 and 8.2 must state only the name of the applicant and all documents must be dated and adjusted to the same date as the application.)

9.  About 4 family photos showing the applicant and the Thai national and the residence (taking pictures of the applicant and the Thai national showing the house number and inside the house).

10. House rental agreement, condo purchase agreement and house registration, house map and the receipt of rent for the past three months.

         However, permission will be granted for no more than 90 days, provided that the applicant has more than 15 days remaining. If the applicant is overstaying, an application cannot be filed. In addition, the applicant and the Thai national must come to proceed with both parties every time. There must be a notification of residence according to section 38 together with proof of residence notification.  All documents must be signed on every page. In the case of child support, the child must not be married and must reside as part of the household.  In case of adoption, the father or mother must be at least 50 years of age. If a child, he/she must not be married and must reside as part of the household and must not be over 20 years of age and [the child must submit all original documents to the competent official.
