Application for a change of visa type for foreigner – For monk, nun or priest studying Buddhism or performing religious activities (Non-R)

         If foreigners wish to apply for a visa or for a change of visa type – for monk, nun or priest studying Buddhism or performing religious activities (Non-R) – documents and evidence must be prepared for applying for a visa or applying for a change of type of visa, as follows:  

1. TM.86, only for foreigners who have Tourist Visa or Transit Visa, to change the type of visa, or TM.87 form, only for foreigners who do not have a visa but are allowed to stay in the kingdom, and P.30, PP.30 and PP.90 to apply for a visa;   

2. Copy of passport (personal information page, entry stamp, residence permit stamp (if any)), and departure card (TM.6);

3. 1 4X6 cm or 2-inch photo;

4. Fee of 2,000 baht;    

5. Letter from the Office of National Buddhism of Thailand or the Office of the Prime Minister requesting visa or visa status alteration (“Attention: Immigration Commissioner”); 

6. A letter of guarantee from the abbot who provides a residential place for the applicant (“Attention: Immigration Commissioner”).

7. Monk’s ID (original). If the monk’s ID is in a foreign language, it must be translated into Thai.

         Documents must be submitted more than 15 days before visa expiration in support of the application for visa status alteration; the visa or alteration is good for 90 days. If a foreigner has overstayed their current visa, they are not allowed to submit an application for this type of visa. 

        - The applicant must appear in person every time.  The applicant must show the notification of residence in accordance with Section 38 and must present the residence notification.  The applicant must sign every page of their documents to certify them. The documents must be in the name of the applicant alone, and all original documents must be submitted to the competent official.
