“e-Extension”: Online Visa Service in Just 3 Minutes

Applying for visa extensions in Thailand has become more convenient with the “e-Extension” online visa service, which takes only 3 minutes to process! The system, initially piloted in Bangkok, aims to enhance efficiency and streamline procedures.

The Royal Thai Police introduced the “e-Extension” system for online visa extensions, aimed at providing greater convenience for foreigners seeking temporary residence in Thailand. This new form of service sets a new standard for serving foreigners by allowing them to submit applications for visa extensions and pay fees electronically. The e-Extension service covers 12 reasons, including tourism, working in government educational institutions, continuing education, working in government agencies, being a former Thai national, having a family residing in Thailand, journalism, teaching and research in government institutions, installation and repair of machinery, medical expertise, vehicle operation, and certification or requests from embassies.

Foreigners can fill out information and submit applications through the online system themselves, via mobile or computer. The “e-Extension” system is an innovative solution that reduces time and steps for applying visa extensions in Thailand, making the process easier, more convenient, and faster—within 3 minutes only! This development marks a significant step in improving services for foreigners and enhancing government efficiency.
