Another Major Win! Thailand Seals Over $33 Million Sugar Export Deal with the Philippines

Thailand is making waves in the global market once again. The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) successfully closed a sugar and refined sugar export deal to the Philippines valued at 1.127 billion baht (approximately $33 million) through 32 business matching partnerships, showcasing the ongoing strength of Thailand’s sugar industry.

World’s 3rd Largest Sugar Exporter: Thailand holds a 12% market share, exporting 8 million tons worth 380 billion baht in 2023.

  • Top 5 Markets: Indonesia (2.2 million tons), Philippines (1.5 million tons), China (1 million tons), Japan (0.7 million tons), South Korea (0.5 million tons)
  • Key Strengths: High-quality sugar (ICUMSA standard), competitive pricing, and strong government support.
