Thailand also has 24 GI-certified rice varieties covering 30 provinces.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u25cf The challenge:&nbsp;<br>Thai yields average 456 kg\/rai, compared with 1,146 in China, 979 in Vietnam, and 704 in India. Thai 5% white rice export prices in October 2026 were also about 21% higher than India's and about 12% higher than Vietnam's and Pakistan's. The ministry says this shows why efficiency and cost control matter.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u25cf The plan:&nbsp;<br>The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will run a 100-rai \"Thai Rice Sandbox\" using high-yield varieties (RD113 and RD85), low-carbon rice, precision farming, and better water management. The Premier pointed to Thailand FastPass, which can cut investment approval times by up to 50%, and Thailand Skill Bridge, which aims to match workers\u2019 skills with what industry needs.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>He also highlighted Direct PPAs for wider access to clean energy, and Thailand\u2019s preparations to join the OECD. On trade, he said negotiations with the U.S. Trade Representative have reached agreement in substance, with hopes of moving toward an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade.<\/p>\r\n<p>In the afternoon, the spotlight turned to technology. Ruth Porat, President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google, followed up on earlier discussions in New York. Google reaffirmed its commitment to investing in Thailand, and the talks centered on sustainable data center development, with water and electricity use a key focus.
