{"posts":[{"id":22703,"title":"Ministry of Foreign Affairs joins JIC Delegation to lead Media and ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to Surin Province to Inspect Casino Buildings and Online Scam Networks","slug":"ministry-of-foreign-affairs-joins-jic-delegation-to-lead-media-and-asean-observer-team-aot-to-surin-province-to-inspect-casino-buildings-and-online-scam-networks","description":null,"action":"detail","value":"<p>On 7 September 2026, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs joined the Delegation of the Joint Information Center on the Thailand-Cambodia Situation (JIC) to lead 51 Thai and Foreign media and key opinion leaders (KOLs), alongside the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), on a site visit to Surin Province to receive a briefing on the local security situation and follow up on the implementation of the Joint Statement (JS) of the 3rd Special Session of the General Border Committee (GBC) on 27 December 2025. Although the ceasefire is holding, the Joint Statement has yet to be fully implemented in all aspects, in particular joint collaboration against online scams.<\/p>\r\n<p>During this site visit, the delegation witnessed first-hand evidence of online scam operations at various buildings at the Chong Chom Permanent Border Checkpoint, which Cambodia had repurposed into military operational bases. This constitutes a violation of international law, including the military use of civilian buildings, and underscores the severity of transnational crime.<\/p>\r\n<p>Thailand has consistently pushed for cooperation with partner countries and international organizations and will continue to drive this agenda at the international level. Benefits include a 300-Baht discount on the TAGTHAi Bangkok Pass and a complimentary BTS One-Day Pass valued at 150 Baht.<\/p>\r\n<p>As the digital payment partner, KBank provides the secure payment infrastructure behind TAGTHAi Easy Pay, enabling international tourists to make QR payments more easily across participating businesses. The partnership strengthens Thailand\u2019s cashless tourism ecosystem while helping channel visitor spending more efficiently to retailers, merchants and tourism-related businesses.<\/p>\r\n<p>Siam Piwat, operator of major Bangkok retail and lifestyle destinations including Siam Paragon, ICONSIAM and Siam Center, supports the initiative by extending TAGTHAi Easy Pay privileges across its properties and connecting international visitors with shopping, dining and tourism experiences.<\/p>\r\n<p>The Mall Group, which operates leading shopping centres including The Mall Lifestore, Emporium, EmQuartier and Emsphere, is integrating the initiative across its properties, giving international visitors access to retail, dining and lifestyle businesses while expanding opportunities for merchants to benefit from tourism spending.<\/p>\r\n<p>MBK Center, a major shopping destination in central Bangkok, brings together more than 1,000 Thai SME shops, restaurants and services alongside cultural experiences including Khon performances and Muay Thai. Then in February 2026, a US court struck down the legal basis for those tariffs, so Washington switched to a new 10% baseline for all countries \u2014 plus extra investigations that could raise rates for some.<\/p>\r\n<p>Locking in this deal would shield Thai exporters from further surprises, keep them competitive against regional rivals, and protect jobs in factories, farms, and businesses that sell to America.<\/p>\r\n<p>The deal covers more than tariffs.
